PARENT / CARERS
The Essere Parent / Carer’s program is structured and designed to be able to move according to the needs of the participants. It encourages parents to instigate changes to the family dynamics through modelling, guiding and negotiating.
Our processes aim to help parents raise children to be able to face situations with resilience. We aim to enable both children and parents to experience life’s challenges with minimal negative side effects.
We aim to help develop;
- Creative problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Responsibility for feelings, thoughts and actions
- Improved reasoning skills
- Belief in self-worth and high self esteem regardless of conditions
- Self-management skills such as monitoring stress responses, goal setting and exhibiting self-discipline
- Social competence such as adaptability, empathy and respect for different points of view
- Maintain integrity and honesty by making ethical choices
- Analyse the assumption underlying their beliefs, values, behaviours and social structures
- Explore alternatives to the current way of thinking and living
- Be sceptical of generic claims
Our program is aimed at helping children and adults build effective communication and relationships within their own family unit. A caring and co-operative community assures personal and cultural survival and well being.
We assist parents to empower themselves by learning how to take responsibility for their choices and how to proactively make better choices in the future instead of reacting in a victim mode.
Family and community teach co-operation, communication and acceptance of diversity, which is a core strength of the Essere Parent / Carer Program.
A family is an intertwined system and what affects one member affects all other members. One family member experiencing stress sends ripples through the entire family. This module provides parents and carers the opportunity to recognise the way stress presents itself in their behaviour. It also investigates different alternative choices to those behaviours.

Parents can identify limiting behaviours, introduce optional choices to those behaviours and offer processes that develop skills to practise new and more positive behavioural choices.
