About Us

Our Workshop Structure

Each of our workshops is conducted by two accredited facilitators who have undergone a ‘Working with Children Check’. Essere workshops are generally of one day duration. (Except for the Indigenous Cultural Living Skills Program and the Shake It! Program).

The Growing Years/Youth Program, Play, Leadership, Shake It! and Indigenous Cultural Living Skills programs are all linked to educational outcomes in the PD/H/PE (Personal Development/Health/Physical Education) syllabus in schools.

Participants are given resources to help them activate and explore various issues that they may encounter. Some are small cue cards that children can place in their wallets or purses to pull out and use as a reference. The Growing Years/Youth program and Indigenous program provides environmentally friendly bags that participants fill with resources.

Essere (To Be) Living Skills is not a counselling service and is non-religious. We believe in operating in an ethical manner, treating each individual with respect and fostering community spirit.

Essere is increasingly aware that today’s society is crying out for strategies to help prevent problems such as bullying, youth suicide and depression. Our programs seek to address these issues and engender an ability for individuals to make better choices and to take greater responsibility for their own lives.
